surprise date night

last night stephen surprised me by going on a fabulous little date! we started at oak cliff neighborhood gem, nova, which i highly recommend if you live here or are visiting dallas.  i mean, where else can you get salmon potato skins?! delicious. i had the shrimp pesto pizza (goat cheese? yes please!) and stephen devoured a most yummy bison burger.

then we ventured over to pinkberry for some dessert - may i recommend the new hazelnut crunch topping? droooooooool.
after rolling out of our chairs, we wandered over to the magnolia theater to see true grit. now, i had high expectations for this movie - i'm a huge jeff bridges fan and love pretty much everything the coen brothers have ever done (yes, even the ladykillers) - but this far exceeded any of those expectations. it was amazing... and even if you don't think you'd love it, go see it, you will (i promise).

it was the perfect little date night...and it still makes me swoon when stephen opens the car door for me :)

O, I'm soooooo glad you liked True Grit - I'm looking forward to it hitting the UK and was worried it hadn't met your expectations!

Also, wish pinkberry was available over here, it always looks lovely.

Thanks for the blog, I look forward to hearing about you and, of course, Roxy! Suze xx

*SPOILER ALERT*

How sweet! I love pesto shrimp pizza! We saw True Grit last week and I had high expectations for it too. I thought it was pretty good but was a little disappointed about how little conflict there actually was. I guess that's the Coen bro's for you though. It just seemed so easy to take him down and there didn't seem to be as much intensity as I'd hoped. Nonetheless, it was still a good movie that I'd recommend too.

i agree on the lack of conflict, but am very pleased that they portrayed rooster as the gritty badass killer with a (small) soft spot he was instead of in the original where they made him a happy-go-lucky goof :) oh and i loved matt damon's character...comic relief to the max!

Looks like a delicious dinner date - especially the new hazelnut topping! And as for True Grit, I wasn't sure how much I'd appreciate it but I left the theater so glad I had seen it - what a fantastic movie!
