cake time

inspired by gabby's delicious looking post, i decided to try my hand at this vegan chocolate cake.  i must say it was delicious! stephen enjoyed his with come caramel ice cream and i just topped mine with fresh strawberries. i did the same thing as gabby and used regular sugar, which i guess can sometimes not be considered vegan, but close enough for me.

here is my little delicious piece:

yum!! have you ever tried vegan deserts? what did you think? i'm not by any means vegan (um hello, cheese?!) but i would definitely make this over and over because it was so incredibly simple and tasty.

I've never tried to make vegan desserts but have a friend who does daily it seems. I made some rum + coconut + key lime cupcakes this weekend and they were DIVINE.

delicious! but how is sugar not vegan? is it processed with animal products?
anything chocolate sounds good to me! beautiful pic with the strawberries :)

yeah i think that some sugar can be processed with animal products so if you cook with your regular run of the mill sugar, it may not be considered vegan....

I scoffed at vegan baking until I lived with a vegan roommate who made the BEST pancakes I ever had. I personally don't do well with baking vegan (eggs and cream make sense to me, I can't fathom ratios without them), but I've become more open to enjoying them, for sure.
